Gas Springs and Gas Struts
Struts Africa has been importing and distributing gas springs into the South African market since 2009. A gas spring — called a gas strut, gas shock, gas lift or gas stay depending on who you talk to — is a sealed cylinder of pressurised nitrogen that lifts, lowers, holds and counterbalances a lid, door or panel.

What we supply
Lift gas springs
The standard type. Pushes a lid open and holds it at full extension. Used on canopy doors, toolbox lids, machine guards, cabinet doors, bonnets and hatches. See the full specification tables on our lift gas springs page.
Locking gas springs
Holds position anywhere in its travel rather than only fully open, released by a lever or button. Used where a panel needs to stop at an intermediate angle. See locking gas springs.
Dampers
Controls the speed of a movement rather than providing lifting force. Trailer overrun dampers and soft-close applications. Browse dampers.
End fittings and brackets
